Mowital® (polyvinyl butyral) is a building block for specialty coatings and films, including Trosifol®, polyvinyl butyral film. Kuraray produces polyvinyl butyral (PVB) resins with properties that are characterized by the presence of butyral units, hydroxyl, and acetyl groups.
With its excellent adhesive and film-forming properties, strong binding power, and exceptional optical transparency – PVB resins are unquestionably versatile thermoplastic materials. Today, the main areas of application for PVB resins include inter-layers for safety glass, paints, lacquers, and varnishes (e.g., primers for metals and anti-corrosion paints), printing inks, temporary binders, and adhesives.
