SEPTON™ is a series of high-performance thermoplastic rubbers using isoprene technology. It consists of a series of hydrogenated styrenic block copolymers that exhibit rubber-like properties over a wide range of temperatures and hardnesses.

Prior to processing, the polystyrene end blocks are in rigid domains. In the presence of heat and shear, the polystyrene domains soften and flow. After cooling, the polystyrene domains re-form and harden, locking the rubber network in place. This physical phenomenon gives SEPTON™ its high tensile strength and elasticity.

What is SEPTON™ V-Series?

SEPTON™ V-Series is a block copolymer that has reactive and cross-linkable hard and soft block applications. Cross-linked SEPTON™ V-Series exhibits excellent heat and oil resistance while maintaining its strong temperature properties as well as its rubber-like feel.

Specifications

Kuraray’s SEPTON and HYBRAR grades function in a wide range of adhesive, sealant, and coating applications. Working directly with the end-user producers, we have developed innovative and unique adhesives that address the constantly changing market. Kuraray elastomers exhibit strong shear performance, melt viscosity, and adhesion and tack properties. These polymers are suitable for solvent-based composition, hot-melt adhesive, and sealant applications and can be formulated with other polymers to create the perfect adhesive.
